College Life

College life is completely different than being in high school. There is more responsibility and freedom to do what you want and when you want. The application process was so hectic. I was not expecting it to be like that. One of the many things that I had to do to get registered for classes at Blinn College, was to get my meningitis shot. The shot felt like someone just punched me in the arm, and it felt like that from when I got the shot which was around noon till I went to bad around 11:00pm.

I myself personally did not move out of my mom’s house, because I decided that I will move out into an apartment with roommates after my two years at Blinn. It is so fun and scary to know I can move out on my own, and split rent for an apartment or dorm with friends. I am glad that I do not have to august to a new town and a new way of learning at the same time, unlike some people how moved out of their home town to take classes at Texas A&M University in College Station, TX or classes at Blinn College in Bryan, TX. I move to College Station, TX last school year which was my senior year of high school, it was sad to leave my friends in Carbondale, IL. The first thing that I noticed  in the first few days of living in College Station was how nice the people were. The some on Blinn’s campus the students really kind and same with the instructor.

My first class was my Mathematics Emporium class which is on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. So when I walked into the class, I was expecting to listen to an instructor teach a little, but no that did not happen, because the class work is all online, and I was not expecting. The instructor is there to help us if we have any questions. My second class is my Basic Reading class which is on Mondays, and Wednesdays. In the Basic Reading class I did not expect to write as much as I do for that class, but it gives me plenty of practice for writing long paper, which I need a lot of. Also in my Basic Reading class on Wednesday the 19th we had an exam, it was my first major exam with short answer, and essays. Which was very difficult for me. My third class is my Learning Framework class which is on Tuesdays, and Thursdays. The first day I walked in to class with an open mine. The instructor told us about herself, one of the thing that she told us was that she has a twin. She also told us that she was a high school teacher for a few years, then she said that when she became a mother she stayed with the kids till they got older. So this is she first time teaching college students. On Tuesday the 18th my instructor had her husband and her twin come in and talk to us about how it was for them as students in college. My forth and my favorite class out of all my classes, is my Physical Anthropology class with is on Wednesdays. The instructor dose a great good teaching about died things. You can tell that she loves Anthropology. The instructor’s personality makes the class so much fun to be in, so if you can try to get a class with Dr. Michelle J. Raisor, she is so fun.
